Productivity tool extended to fixed Android devices, simplifying development and frontline workflows as Elo marks its one-year anniversary as part of Zebra

Knoxville, United States (PRUnderground) October 28th, 2026

Elo, now part of Zebra Technologies, today announced that its I-Series 5 and Elo Pay 15" devices are now compatible with Zebra DataWedge, bringing one of Zebra's most widely adopted enterprise productivity tools to Elo's latest Android platform.

The milestone enables businesses and software developers to seamlessly integrate barcode scanning and enterprise data capture into Elo Android devices without requiring application-specific scanner development. Organizations can leverage the same DataWedge workflows already deployed across Zebra mobile computers, helping reduce implementation time, simplify application development, and create a more consistent user experience across the enterprise.

"Since Zebra's acquisition of Elo one year ago, we've been focused on identifying where bringing Elo and Zebra solutions together can create meaningful value for our customers," said Dan Ludwick, chief product officer of Elo. "Extending Zebra DataWedge compatibility to Elo's Android platform is a great example. Customers can take workflows they already know and trust on Zebra mobile devices and extend them across Elo point-of-sale (POS), self-service, payment and interactive experiences. Zebra and Elo are truly better together as we are making deployment simpler, creating greater consistency and giving customers more flexibility across the enterprise."

For more than a decade, Zebra DataWedge has helped organizations simplify enterprise application development by enabling barcode scanning and other data capture capabilities without requiring developers to integrate specialized scanner SDKs. Existing Android applications can receive scanned data through familiar input methods, allowing businesses to accelerate deployments while reducing development complexity.

With DataWedge compatibility, Elo customers can now leverage:

  1. • Simplified barcode integration without custom scanner development

  2. • Support for keyboard wedge and Android Intent data delivery

  3. • Consistent scanning workflows across Zebra mobile computers and Elo fixed Android devices

  4. • Faster application deployment with minimal software changes

  5. • Enterprise-ready configuration through DataWedge profiles

  6. The addition of Zebra DataWedge support extends across several of Elo's newest Android solutions:

  7. -- Elo I-Series 5 - Commercial-grade, interactive Android touchscreen computers designed for retail, hospitality, healthcare and industrial applications such as POS, self-service kiosks and digital signage.

  8. -- Elo Pay 15" - An integrated Android payment platform combining a commercial-grade touchscreen with built-in contactless payment capabilities for attended and self-service environments.

"Bringing Elo and Zebra together was about creating more ways to digitize and connect the frontline," said James Poulton, senior vice president, Enterprise Mobile Computing. "DataWedge compatibility is a tangible example of that strategy in action. By extending common workflows across Zebra mobile computers and Elo fixed devices, we can help customers create more consistent experiences across the environments where their employees and customers interact with technology."

The new capability is particularly valuable for retailers, restaurants, healthcare providers, manufacturers and logistics organizations looking to standardize application behavior across multiple device types while reducing deployment and support costs.

Zebra DataWedge compatibility is available today through the latest software update delivered via EloView for supported Elo Android devices, including the I-Series 5 and Elo Pay 15".
